Senior Systems, Service & Solutions Proposals Engineer

Purpose of the Job

1. Under the co-ordination of the Manager: Systems & Service Sales Manager, and in collaboration with the company’s systems and service sales team, contribute to the development of the Systems and Service Business in the region of responsibility.
2. Under the co-ordination of Divisional Manager: Head of Sales, Manager: System & Service Sales Manager and in collaboration with the company’s Digital Enterprise solutions team , contribute to the development of the Digital Enterprise Business in the region of responsibility.
3. To contribute to the RFQ / RFT process within the Systems and Service and the Digital Enterprise Solutions department by generating a proposal or tender.

The position reports to:

Manager: Systems & Service
Sales Manager and  Divisional Manager: Head of Sales (Solutions)

Key Accountability and Responsibility

  1. Support internal and external sales activities.
    2. Liaise with internal and external customers to develop technical and commercially acceptable proposals and tenders.
    3. Liaise with internal and external customers to cost products or services.
    4. Perform calculations and costing for tenders and proposals.
    5. Coordinate and supervise final documents to ensure quality and compliance with the Company’s Global Rules and Quality Management procedures.
    6. Ensure timely completion of tenders.
    7. Utilise CRM/YODA to capture relevant information.
    8. Develop contacts with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing information to use in estimating.
    9. Ensure that risk to the company is minimised by generating appropriate responses to clients’ commercial terms and conditions,
    where there is uncertainty, escalating to the Manager.
    10. Ensure that Proposals are generated professionally and that they are compliant with sales policy and procedure.
    11. Responsible to update and report on the complete proposals list weekly and monthly.
    12. Participate as a member of the sales team in the pursuit of its business activities especially at sales meetings, training sessions, shows and conferences.
    13. Prepare and Present Presentations in line with customers’ requirements.
    14. Abide by the Authority Levels document.
    15. Send order acceptance to customers.
    16. Perform project handovers to relevant departments.
    17. Mentor and train junior employees on systems processes, filing requirements, documentation control and CRM/Yoda.
    18. Assist marketing with updated information as and when required.
    19. Respond positively to any other reasonable request pertaining to the job.

Education:

1. Formal qualification in Process Control and Instrumentation (BSc/B Tech Engineering) or equivalent.
2. Clear understanding of Digital Transformation, IT/OT convergence, Data Science & Cyber Security solutions.
3. Full PC, Microsoft package and e-mail literacy.
4. Minimum of 4 years technical experience in industrial automation.
5. Minimum of 4 years in generating technical and commercially acceptable tenders and proposals.
6. Proven track record in sales or sales.
7. Working knowledge of supply contracts, quotation tools, risk management, incoterms and commercial T&C’s.
