The Uganda Transit eVisa is for eligible travellers who are passing through Uganda on their way to another country. It is useful when Uganda is only a stop on your journey and you need permission to transit through the country. The transit visa is valid for a maximum of 7 days and cannot be extended. Applicants need a passport with at least six months’ validity, a recent passport-size photograph, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, a letter explaining the reason for transit and destination country, and proof that they are allowed to enter their final destination. The current fee is USD 50, and applications can be made online through Uganda’s Immigration portal. It is best to apply before travelling and carry the approval letter with your passport.
